Get Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable

February 2, 2021-I’d like to start this post off by wishing my oldest nephew a very happy 17th birthday! Time flies and I couldn’t be more proud to be your auntie. I love you so much.

Quick, when was the last time you were uncomfortable? I mean really uncomfortable? I’m not talking about the Starbucks-not-getting-your-coffee-right type of uncomfortable, I’m talking about the real thing.  Have you ever had your back against the wall, no money in your account, bills piling up, and no work coming in? I have. Have you ever had to face every challenge on your own (personal and professional) with no help from anyone? I have. But guess what? Those are the days and experiences that make us. Those trials and tribulations make us who we are  and they have certainly made me the person I am today. If everything had have been handed to me, what would I have learned? I would have learned not to depend on myself. I would have learned that I can’t deal with the bad days and I may as well just throw in the towel.

So, when you face issues and problems are you going to throw in the towel or use it to wipe the sweat off your face and try again? I hope you’ll keep fighting, I hope you’ll keep going, and I hope when you hear NO, a thousand times in your writing life that you will steady yourself and your vision and confidently tell them, YES. Tell yourself that no matter what, you’re going to make it. Come hell or highwater, promise yourself that you will succeed and then work to get there. When everything seems to be going against you, remember that an airplane takes off against the wind, not with it. And remember, you have to present yourself in such a way that people don’t even feel right approaching you with bullshit. Wish them well and move on. Focus on your writing, your goals, your ambitions, and dreams. Don’t let outside distractions in. Allow yourself to be uncomfortable in your writing and your business, because then, you’ll find out what you’re made of. Start getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. Know who is going to give you everything you want? YOU.

Now go get it. X LLB
