We are also thrilled to announce the winners of our 2nd Annual Essay Contest, hosted by Vistancia Animal Hospital. “Why I Want to Be a Veterinarian” brought in a flood of inspiring entries from young aspiring vets. A huge congratulations to our top three winners: Emma Rasso, Mack Murray, and Hailey Price. Their heartfelt essays will be featured in this issue, offering a glimpse into the dreams and aspirations of the next generation of veterinarians. Each winner’s essay showcases a deep passion for animal care and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of animals. Every participant will receive a prize from Pandamonium as a token of our thanks! A massive thanks to Vistancia Animal Hospital for allowing us to participate in something so fun, and for their expert care of Luna while we’re in Arizona!
In addition to celebrating our contest winners, we explore the significant connection between literacy and pets. Reading to pets has proven to be an effective and comforting way for children to improve their reading skills. Pets offer a non-judgmental presence that encourages kids to read aloud without fear of making mistakes. This simple yet powerful interaction not only boosts literacy but also strengthens the bond between children and animals.
